Aldenard is the smallest continent on Hydaelyn and is home to the region known as Eorzea.

As the westernmost of the Three Great Continents, Aldenard is currently ruled by four independent city-states: the sultanate of Ul'dah rules the southern Thanalan deserts, the Holy See of Ishgard rules the northern Coerthas highlands, and Limsa Lominsa rules La Noscea on the southwest island of Vylbrand and its surrounding seas.
A little more than two decades ago, Sharlayan and Ala Mhigo were another pair of city-states that resided in Eorzea alongside the aforementioned four. However, when the Garlean Empire invaded Aldenard from the north and seized Ala Mhigo, its citizens fled the former out of terror.[1]
